Sai Wan Beach - A famous beach for hiking, camping, stargazing and surfing.

The "Tai Long Wan" in Sai Kung, New Territories is mainly composed of four bays, from south to north, the "Sai Wan", the "Ham Tin Wan", the "Tai Wan" and the "Tung Wan". These four bays not only have their own characteristics, but also have beautiful scenery, which makes visitors never get tired of seeing them. And the place that HongKongFootprint.com wants to visit this time is a bay beach that is the easiest to reach among these four bays.

"Sai Wan Beach" is one of the famous natural beaches in Hong Kong. The sea view of this beach is not only open, but also the water is clear and the sand is very fine. The area of the beach is also very large, and the coastline is quite long. It is definitely a high-quality beach with clear water and fine sand. It is a pity that there are not many places with big trees on the beach. It is recommended that visitors bring some shade supplies by themselves, so that they can rest in the shade.

Because the location of this beach is close to the famous hiking trail "MacLehose Trail", and there are shops selling snacks and drinks on the beach, this beach is also an important place for supplies and rest. Every year, many hikers pass by this beach, rest here, and take a look at the natural beauty here.

Another thing to note is that if you want to swim at this beach, you must be careful and prepare more, because this beach is actually not official open as a swimming beach for visitors to swim. Therefore, there will be no lifeguard services, and there will be no basic facilities such as changing rooms and bathing areas. This beach only has toilets, so it is recommended to prepare a little more necessary items before going to this beach. In addition, you need to take away the garbage by yourself.

Although the facilities of this beach are not perfect, the small shops operating here provide rental services for water sports equipment. Visitors can rent canoes, surfboards or other water surfing equipment from these shops, but the fees will be more expensive. In addition, the water sports center in "Sha Ha Beach", Sai Kung, actually provides rental services for water sports equipment. So if you want to experience water sports, it is not recommended to make a special trip to this beach. Because it is more convenient to play in other beaches in Sai Kung.

The "Sai Wan Campsite" located on the "Sai Wan Beach" is also a very good camping location because it is close to the water source, there is a barbecue area next to it, and the facilities of the nearby shops. The only thing to pay attention to is that if you want to camp on the beach, you must pay attention to the time when the tide rises and falls. If there is a high tide at night, then there must be a plan to relocate the camp.

This beach is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and naturally suffers from less light pollution, so it is also a good place to watch the stars. The "Sai Wan Stargazing Site" near the "Sai Wan Beach" is a place specially designed for viewing the stars. Every summer, which is the best time to take photos of the Milky Way in Hong Kong, there will be a lot of photographers here, trying their best to take many wonderful photos of the Milky Way or starry sky.

If you also want to stroll around this beach, it is recommended to take the MTR to the Diamond Hill Station and leave at the Exit C2. Afterwards, transfer to bus No. 92 at the Diamond Hill Station Public Transport Interchange and get off at Sai Kung Bus Terminus.

After getting off the bus, walk along Fuk Man Road to Chan Man Street, and transfer to the village bus No. 29R at Chan Man Street to get off at Sai Wan Pavilion. By the way, on Sundays or public holidays, there will be more frequency of the village bus No. 29R. Alternatively, consider changing to a taxi at Sai Kung Bus Terminal and get off at Sai Wan Pavilion.

When you come to Sai Wan Pavilion, you can follow the signs and walk along Maclehose Trail Section 2 to Sai Wan Beach. The journey takes about 45 minutes. On the way, you will pass by Sai Wan Village first, and then you will see Sai Wan Beach.
