"Shing Mun River" has a total length of about seven kilometers, extending from Tai Wai, New Territories to Ma On Shan, New Territories. The river eventually flows into Tolo Harbour and is a major river channel in the Sha Tin District. The scenary along the river is not only picturesque, but also pleasant. The quiet and comfortable environment makes visitors forget that they are in the city and also far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Walking along the river, in addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery on both sides of the river, there are also many entertainment facilities along the way to stop and play. For example, the "Hong Kong Heritage Museum", which is full of historical relics, and the "Sha Tin Park" with complete recreational facilities can make visitors spend a pleasant day here.
On the annual Dragon Boat Festival (5th day of the fifth lunar month in the lunar calendar), dragon boat races are held all over Hong Kong in order to inherit traditional customs and add to the festive atmosphere. The "Shing Mun River" is also one of the places where dragon boat races are held. The dragon boat race held in Sha Tin attracts many visitors every year and is an annual festival event. The hull of the dragon boat is relatively long and narrow, and the two ends are decorated with colorful dragon head wood carvings and dragon tail wood carvings. During the race, dozens of competitors row the dragon boat, and the dragon boat that crosses the finish line first will win.
If you also want to come here, it is recommended to take the MTR to Tai Wai Station and leave at Exit A. After that, walk along Tsuen Nam Road to the right for about 5 minutes, and you will come to the Shing Mun River.
