The "Sam Dip Tam" in Lo Wai Tsuen, Tsuen Wan, New Territories, was originally the downstream part of the "Tai Yuen Stream". The so-called "Sam Dip Tam" means that the stream is divided into three layers of streams, and the streams are stacked on top of each other, forming three pools, hence the name. "Sam Dip Tam" is quite wide. There are small waterfalls between each layer of streams. There are also trees on both sides of the streams. The mountains along the way are green and the scenery is very beautiful.
Later, because the flowing water of "Tai Yuen Stream" was intercepted and introduced into reservoir, the flowing water of "Sam Dip Tam" was greatly reduced, so it is no longer suitable for splashing and swimming. Even so, today's "Sam Dip Tam" is still picturesque, with green trees along the way, it is also a good place for outings.
Walking among the streams, you will also see a huge boulder called "Hero Stone". The "Hero Stone" consists of three boulders. There is a stone room under the stone. Passing through the stone room leads to the stone back, and there are stone steps to climb to the top of the stone. It is said that during the Second World War, the stone room was the hiding place of the anti-Japanese fighters, so the boulder was later engraved with the three Chinese characters "Hero Stone" to commemorate the anti-Japanese fighters.
If you also want to visit this place, it is recommended to take the MTR to Tsuen Wan Station and leave at Exit B1. Afterwards, walk across the pedestrian bridge to Chung On Street. Continue to walk along Chung On Street to Shiu Wo Street, and transfer to the minibus No. 81 at Shiu Wo Street, and get off at Western Monastery.
After getting off the minibus, near the minibus stop, you will see a section of stone steps going downhill. Going downhill along the stone steps, after passing Heung Hoi Che Hong, you will see a small bridge. Looking out on the small bridge, you will see a wide open stream, here is the Sam Dip Tam.
