This monument, called "The Cenotaph", was originally built to commemorate the martyrs of the First World War. The original monument was only engraved with the words "The Glorious Dead" and the year of First World War, and later the year of the Second World War was inscribed in memory of the martyrs of the Second World War.
The architectural style of "The Cenotaph" is classical revivalism, with a well-proportioned exterior design and a sarcophagus-like top. Stone garlands are adorned on both sides and at the top of the monument, while three bronze flagpoles are adorned on the front and back. The monument is located in the very center of the lawn and can be reached by four cross-shaped stone paths, highlighting the solemn feeling.
If you also want to come here, it is recommended to take the MTR to the Central Station and leave at the Exit J3. This monument is right at the exit of the station, so it's easy to see.
