This museum was built in 1987, the original site is a Hakka walled village with hundreds of years of history. This Hakka walled village has stood for more than two centuries. Whether it is brick by brick, it bears witness to the development history of Hong Kong and reflects the unique Hakka architectural culture of the past.
Entering the museum through the door, there is a small reception room in front of you. Here are some brief introductions and information of the exhibition halls for visitors to read. On the left and right sides of the reception room, there are exhibition halls showing the old appearance of the village house, and a brief introduction to the development and history of the walled village.
Walking in the alleys in the museum, you can walk to different exhibition halls. The cultural relics displayed in each pavilion are very different, some show traditional cultural customs, and some show the former living environment, which makes people feel quite interesting.
In order to make it easier for visitors to understand the life characteristics of the Hakka people, in each exhibition hall, some historical relics such as furniture, handicrafts and agricultural tools from Hakka villages in the seventeenth century will be displayed. These displays present the life of Hakka people in Hong Kong in the past.
The museum is open from Monday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. As for the opening hours on public holidays, it is also 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Another thing to note is that it is closed on Tuesdays, but if that day is a public holiday, it will remain open as usual.
