The mosque in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, was built in 1896. According to historical records, the reason why this mosque was built was mainly because, in the past, a large number of South Asian soldiers, who believed in Islam, lived in the British army barracks stationed in Hong Kong. Therefore, in order to facilitate these soldiers to pray, this mosque was built in the military camp.
The "Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre" is a four-storey building mainly made of plain white marble, representing peace and purity. In addition to the exquisite workmanship of the window grilles of the arched threshold, its architectural style also has a strong Islamic color. The most distinctive place among them is the minarets located in the four corners. In addition, the design of its large dome, as well as those carved out of marble, are also attractive.
There are several mosques in Hong Kong, each with a very long history. But only the "Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre" is the most lively, attracting many visitors from all over the world to visit every year, which makes it a famous Hong Kong attraction.
