Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery - Marine Rescue Work in Hong Kong

There are many unique exhibition halls in Hong Kong, and the exhibition hall that HongKongFootprint.com wants to introduce this time is not only the fireboat in the past, but also the first fireboat preserved as a historical relic in Hong Kong.

The fireboat was built in the 1950s and had served the Hong Kong Fire Services Department for decades before being decommissioned. This fireboat was berthed in Victoria Harbour and was mainly responsible for fire-fighting and rescue work in the waters of Hong Kong.

Until it was decommissioned in 2002, in view of the great historical value of this fireboat, it was preserved and converted into an exhibition hall. In the exhibition hall, many fire-fighting cultural relics with a long history are displayed, and each cultural relic has a brief introduction, which can not only enhance visitors' understanding of Hong Kong's maritime rescue work, but also allow visitors to understand the historical value behind each cultural relic.

This exhibition hall is called "Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery", because the name of the fireboat is "Alexander Grantham". The fireboat was also named after the Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Alexander William George Herder Grantham. In addition, the location of the "Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery" was also carefully chosen. The entire building was built near the sea, and it felt like a fire ship moored by the sea.

"Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery" is also a good place for parents and children with full of educational significance, because children can board the fireboat to visit and take pictures, which is actually quite new for children. While letting the children know about the firefighting facilities on the fireboat, they can also deepen their understanding of the history of firefighting in Hong Kong.

This exhibition hall is open from Monday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. As for the opening hours on public holidays, it is also from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Another thing to note is that it is closed on Tuesdays, but if that day is a public holiday, it will remain open as usual. In addition, admission to this exhibition hall is free. So if you want to know the history of firefighting in Hong Kong, but don't want to spend money, then come here to see, it will be a good choice.

If you want to visit this exhibition hall, it is recommended to take the MTR to Tai Koo Station and leave at the Exit E1. Afterwards, go through Cityplaza Phase 4 to Quarry Bay Park, and then pass the pedestrian bridge of Quarry Bay Park to the waterfront promenade. When you reach the waterfront promenade, go straight to the right and you will come to this exhibition hall.
